Planning a holiday family night? Need a quick-fix snack to go along with a board-game or family movie? Here's a recipe for old-fashioned kettle corn. It offers just the right mix of sweet and salty flavor, and it's fast, easy and inexpensive to make. If fact, this is something your kids can learn to make, it's that easy.
What you'll need
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup white sugar (brown for a caramel taste)
1 1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup popcorn
A large soup pot with lid
Instructions
Step 1: In a large soup pot, heat the oil over medium heat.
Step 2: When the oil is heated, stir in the sugar, salt, and popcorn.
Step 3: Cover and shake the pot back and forth over the burner constantly. Keep shaking as the popcorn pops.
Step 4: When the popcorn slows to a couple pops a second, remove from heat. Continue to shake the pot for about 30 seconds while the popcorn stops popping. Pour into a large bowl and stir to break up any clusters.
